Randstad

Trivia

In 1966. Randstad founder Frits Goldschmeding asked the bureau Total Design to design a simple, round symbol because round is friendly. A special, stylized letter-type was chosen for the Randstad wordmark and the letter ‘r’ for the logo, but used in a lower case form that was contemporary without being trendy. The addition of the mirrored ‘r’ ‘balanced’ the logo and visually communicated that Randstad was an intermediary between flexworkers and business clients. It also made people think of someone welcoming them with open arms, which was another positive association.
