TriviaThe AMRO Bank came into existance in 1964 from the merger of the Dutch 'Amsterdamsche Bank' and the 'Rotterdamsche Bank'. The banks of the Netherlands' two biggest cities. The name of the new bank and brand was a concatenation of the first two letters of both banks.
The AMRO Bank ceased to exist when it merged again with the ABN ('Algemene Bank Nederland') in 1990, resulting in the ABN-AMRO Bank.
