Since it was established in 1938, the French railway SNCF
(Société Nationale des Chemins de Fer) has made two significant
redesigns of its corporate image. The example shown here dates from 1970,
before which the interwoven letter "SNF" were framed bij the "C". Updated
by Roger Tallon in 1985, a lighter, more fluid-looking logo (on the right)
emerged, based on the italicized outline of its letters.
